I’ve seen some talk about giant slaying, usually taking advantage of poor AI, glitches, or the fact that you are the only person in the entire world capable of jumping. What isn’t mentioned however, is that Giants can be slain with incredible ease without resorting to any of those tactics.
What you need:
Skill focus:
Stealth
Ranged attack (magic or archery)
Shouts:
Whirlwind sprint (at least one rank)
Technique:
So you have your prey in front of you and you are presently not a pancake. Good. Go ahead and put yourself into sneak mode, and let loose your attack. Don’t worry about seeing if it hits; you’ll know by the health bar that pops up if you hit or missed. Turn around immediately, and use Whirlwind sprint to get some extra distance between the two of you.
Sprint normally a few seconds, then begin sneaking. If you got enough distance, the eye will probably begin to start closing, and if you turn around, the giant will likely be a good distance away. Keep back pedaling until the eye closes completely; giving you a ton of stealth exp. Repeat this process as long as you like, or until it is dead. This will level your sneaking extremely quickly early on without needing to do something boring like walking left and right repeatedly in front of a bandit lookout.
Just remember to keep an eye on your surroundings; the last thing you want to do is backpedal far enough to run into a different giant’s mallet.
