This is the third scam letter I’ve gotten this month. Do they actually think I’m easy to trick? Maybe, I guess three’s a charm well the third got me to do something; specifically complain about them.
First of all; a major rule of thumb is if you didn’t enter a contest, you are not going to win a contest. If you are a supposed winner or finalist in a contest of some sort, then you are not actually a winner, and they are just trying to get money out of you.
In this particular case; the scam artist is AVC Travel. As soon as I got the letter I went online to catch the story on them. They are a time share company attempting to use the prize as bait to get people to go out and look at a really bad deal for a time share. Using aggressive sales tactics they can convince the unwary to make a deal they ordinarily would not. I do not know if they do give the prize after the deal but all bets are on no.
The internet nowadays is a great tool for use in avoiding these kinds of scams, but don’t trust everything online either, just keep in mind those emails the prince of Nigeria keeps sending out.
